Learning Objectives

  1. Identify the different types of group strength classes that exist today including descriptions, focus and outcome of each.
  2. Review the difference between muscular endurance and strength training.
  3. Define balance integration, muscular balance and muscular coordination.
  4. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of training for strength in the group exercise setting.
  5. Explore how each potential drawback from group exercise strength training can be turned into a positive.
  6. Understand strategies for programming, including purpose, descriptions and the need for predictability.
  7. Understand the need for QUALITY vs. QUANTITY when programming group strength classes, including the use of time and strategic breaks.
  8. Use techniques for creating a class plan that delivers a well-rounded muscular conditioning class.
  9. Implement the “Elevated E3 Program Design Protocol” for group strength classes.
  10. Evaluate appropriate exercises and sequences for inclusion in a high-level group strength class.
